Why Richmond?

The Virginia capital is where we took our first trip together. It was early March 2020, a week before the world shut down. We've since visited the city every year and have fallen in love with it's charm, character and food and drink scene!

Where to eat & drink

DINING

  • Cobra Burger - casual spot. Pimento burger is delish!

  • Alewife - semi casual, great dinner spot. Mid-Atlantic cuisine

  • The Roosevelt - nicer dinner spot, new American (where we got engaged!)

  • L'Oppossum - modern French cuisine but with ecclectic devor

  • The Fancy Biscuit - great breakfast spot

  • Proper Pie Co - small individual pies, both sweet and savory. Great for breakfast, lunch or even a snack

  • The Pink Room - tiny spot with delicious small dishes and great drinks. Connected to Metzger Bar & Butchery and both owned by Top Chef contestant Brittany Anderson. She also has another spot in Scott's Addition called Brenner Pass that's pretty good

  • Sub Rosa Bakery - fantastic baked goods. Order early! They run out fast

  • Lost Letter - nice dinner spot in Scott's Addition. Modern Italian cuisine

DRINKS

  • Hardywood - brewery with 2 locations. One in Scott's Addition and another about a 20 minute drive from the city

  • Triple Crossing - has a couple locations in the area. Great beer and serves food

  • Bingo Beer - beer + arcade games

  • The Answer Brewpub - known for their Joose beers (higher ABV milkshake style beers that are really flavorful). They serve food and are connected to Mekong, a highly recommended Vietnamese restaurant

  • Strangeways - has more experimental beers

  • Benchtop - on the other side of the river but has excellent beers

COFFEE

  • Riverbend Roastery - nice neighborhood spot if you are staying in Churchill

  • Ironclad Coffee Roasters & Baking Co - great drinks and the building itself is very cool

  • Afterglow - great spot in Scotts Addition

  • Maymont - historic property with Italian and Japanese gardens

  • Edgar Allen Poe Museum - located in his childhood home

  • Explore Carytown - cool neighboor with lots of thrift shops
